ELBRO switchButler - LTE telecontrol system via SMS, call and e-mail for building, industrial and unattended systems

The product series switchButler includes ELBRO AG's LTE telecontrol units for building services, industrial, agricultural and unattended systems. The devices enable simple and reliable switching of electrical loads and monitoring of inputs - by SMS, phone call or email notification via the mobile 4G (LTE) network, without any complex IT infrastructure.

Control and monitoring via SMS, call and e-mail

The switchButler series is designed for remote access via the 4G (LTE) mobile network:

  • Sending SMS commands to switch the relay outputs on and off.
  • Switching by phone call.
  • Monitoring of digital inputs with freely definable alarm and acknowledgement texts.
  • Use of analog inputs (0-10 V, 4-20 mA, PT100/PT1000) for monitoring environmental or process variables with adjustable threshold values.
  • Sending SMS notifications to up to 10 recipients.
  • Sending e-mail notifications via LTE data connection or a dedicated WLAN.

Configuration with the switchButler app

The device is configured - including user management, message texts, advanced parameters, function logic and firmware updates - via the switchButler app for iOS and Android. The connection between smartphone and device uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). During operation, the device is controlled via SMS, calls and email notification services in the data network.

switchButler SMSB131BW - Compact LTE telecontrol unit

SMSB131BW is a compact LTE telecontrol unit for wall mounting and distributed applications:

  • 1 relay output
  • 3 digital inputs
  • 1 analog input
  • Integrated LTE antenna
  • Kits with power supply unit and - depending on variant - BTH1 ambient sensor (temperature/humidity) available

The unit is suitable when a single switching point with alarm and monitoring functions via SMS, call and e-mail notification is required.

switchButler SMSB242BW - LTE telecontrol unit for top-hat rail mounting

SMSB242BW is the version for top-hat rail mounting (3 TE) and is suitable for switch panels and control cabinets:

  • 2 relay outputs
  • 4 digital inputs
  • 2 analog inputs
  • Integrated TFT touch display for local display and settings

The device offers a higher I/O density for technical and industrial applications with multiple signals to be monitored and switched - also via the 4G (LTE) network.

Sensors and expansion modules

The switchButler series can be extended with a range of special accessory components that are available for both main models SMSB131BW and SMSB242BW:

  • BTH1 - Wireless temperature and humidity sensor for environmental measurements.
  • SMSB240EX - I/O expansion module with 2 relay outputs and 4 digital inputs for DIN rail mounting to expand the switching and monitoring points.
  • Special power supply units, DIN rail adapters, LTE antennas and mounting accessories.

Up to 5 extension modules can be connected per base unit to adapt the configuration to the specific requirements of the system.

SMS-Butler-Mobiles Master/Slave - Remote-controlled socket outlet modules

In addition to the LTE modules for wall and control cabinet mounting, the switchButler family also includes the SMS-Butler-Mobiles Master/Slave socket outlet system, which is designed for the remote switching of loads at 230 V socket outlets:

  • Remote control module ELBRO SMS-Butler-Mobiles Master - SMSB-M1-V4
    Master socket outlet module with integrated mobile radio communication, 1 T12/T13 socket outlet, rated current 10 A, for remote switching of an electrical consumer via SMS and dedicated app.
  • Remote control extension module ELBRO SMS-Butler-Mobiles Slave - SMSB-S1-V4
    Slave socket outlet module with 1 T12/T13 socket outlet, 10 A, which communicates with the master by radio to increase the number of switchable loads.
  • Master/slave sets
    Prefabricated sets with 1 master and 1 to 4 slaves (SMSB-S1-V4S1 / S2 / S3 / S4), a total of 2 to 5 remote-controlled sockets. All sockets are designed for 10 A and for plug-in installation on 230 V sockets.

With just one SIM card in the master module, several sockets can be controlled in parallel, for example to switch electric heaters, convectors, mobile air conditioning units, pumps or other devices in residential properties, technical rooms or smaller unattended installations on and off. The app enables SMS commands to be triggered at the touch of a button and several switchButlers to be managed at different locations.

Thanks to the combination of relay outputs, digital and analog inputs, remote control via SMS and call, e-mail notifications and configuration via the app, switchButler is suitable for numerous applications, in particular:

  • Building technology, second homes and vacation homes: early activation of heating, control of lighting and technical alarms in unattended properties.
  • Industry and infrastructure: Remote monitoring of control cabinets, pumps, ventilation, process systems and auxiliary systems.
  • Water and wastewater technology: Pumping stations, reservoirs, waterworks and wastewater treatment plants that are not permanently manned.
  • Agriculture and animal husbandry: Monitoring and control of stables, poultry systems, livestock farming, ventilation and watering systems as well as technical rooms in unattended areas.
  • Plug&Play applications with master/slave sockets: Remote switching of electric heaters, convectors, mobile air conditioning units and other consumers at 230 V sockets, without interfering with the fixed electrical installation.
